Wine and Love v42

26 Jan

Always welcoming new friends and bloggers to this weekly event! If you don’t know what’s up check it out Wine & Love, join in on your own blog or comments.

Reasons I’m reaching for a glass of wine:

* A post is in the works on this, but sometimes being a Bonus Mom is really hard. It comes with a lot of baggage. And sometimes that baggage really, really sucks and is difficult to deal with.

* I’m in a cooking funk. I used to meal plan and grocery shop around those meal plans but lately I’m just not feeling it. Which results in me being in a mad dash around dinner time trying to figure something out. Funny thing is I have control over this so I need to change it.

* There have been a few days this week that seem to drag on forever, even in spite of how busy I’ve been.

Reasons I’m loving life this week:

* We have a completely kid-fre, plan-free weekend starting tomorrow and I’m so incredibly excited about it. Don’t get me wrong, I love the kidlets, but after the busy last few weeks we have had around these parts, I’m so glad we have some time to ourselves.

* Curling up on the couch and reading and getting lost in the book. It’s a book I’m reading as part of TLC Book Tours, so you can expect a full review in a few weeks.

* Awesome heart-to-heart chats with my mom. She’s pretty much the best.

* Last weekend we had a house full of guests: friends, dogs, kids and toddlers. It was a lot of fun. Tons of laughs. Food. Drink. Holding the toddler who is adorable. The girls running around playing hair salon. Late night gab fests with the girls and board games (girls vs. boys, of course). I’m glad for the quiet of the house now, but it was fun while everyone was here.

* Tomorrow is Friday. This makes me giddy.

* Fresh poppy seed bagels from a boutique bagel place here in town. So. Amazing.

Wine: How slooooow this week has been going – totally agree with you! The days at work have been dragging out like no one’s business and every morning it’s been horrible trying to get myself out of bed.

Love: Purging. I did our linen closet, and next up is our walk-in closet in our bedroom. I have a feeling the changes are going to be dramatic and I can’t wait!

Are you on Pinterest? I just joined and have been finding tons of awesome recipes I can’t wait to try. That might help you get out of your cooking funk!

You’re kid-free, plan-free weekend sounds awesome. I hope you and Knight enjoy every minute if it! :D

I was about to suggest Pinterest for recipes. I have a board full of them, gives me great ideas every week!

I second Gina’s comment about Pinterest! I’ve found so many awesome ideas for meals on there.

Hope you have a lovely kid-free weekend!

I am glad you have a plan-free weekend ahead of you. Those are important!! Mine is plan-free as well, besides a whole lot of CFA studying. And that makes me really happy.

Wine: This recovery process has been really hard. Lots of pain, tears, and discomfort. Can’t wait for it to be behind me.

Love: My birthday is a week from Monday (whoa where did the last year go?). I love birthdays! I’ll be traveling for work (I think, pending doctor clearance) so I am celebrating early with Brooke and Amanda. We’re staying in, eating white chicken chili, and watching a chick flick. That’s my kind of bday celebration. :)

I love me some Pinterest ;)
I hate to say it, but I’m actually really looking forward to your future post on bonus mom baggage. I first read this term on your blog, and I like it much better than step-mom ;) I’m going through the same stuff now, and it is really nice to identify with another person about it, because no one else in my life has gone through this. (My brother is a bonus dad, but it is a different role for men, and a different circumstance).

I hate it when I fall off the recipe train :( I also suggest Pinterest. I’ve found some really good recipes on there in the past!

I can’t wait for Friday. You have no idea!

Ditto everyone on the Pinterest suggestion! I love it! So many wonderful things on there sure to get you out of the rut :)

I’ve fallen off the cooking bandwagon too, I had cereal for dinner twice this week!!

Wine: All this job stuff is kind of stressing me out big time!

Love: It’s Thursday which means it’s almost the weekend and I’m ALWAYS excited for the weeekend ;) This one should be a mix of busy and laidback so that will be good!

Oh and another love is having a glass of wine with dinner last night and spending the evening on the couch watching 50/50 with Eric. It was a lovely way to spend a weekday evening.

Your weekend sounds blissful. :) I hope it’s relaxing and fun for you!

Everyone is suggesting Pinterest for recipe ideas. I think I may have to jump on the Pinterest bandwagon. I am in a cooking funk as well.

I’m glad tomorrow’s Friday, as well. Although, I will be working this weekend. I’m really thankful for the job I have, but I’ll be glad when I get a job that doesn’t require weekend work – if I’m actually able to get a job like that, that is. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I can only imagine how complicated it would be to be a bonus mom! I know it has some good times, but I can imagine many other times are very difficult.

Glad to hear about your plan free weekend. I have one as well and I’m looking forward to it!

I am feeling the same way about certain days this week just DRAGGING. Today is one of those days. I have things to do, so it’s not that I’m bored, but I just don’t feel like doing those things. I don’t even know what I feel like doing instead.

I know a cooking rut is heading my way soon. I just get so uninspired in the winter months and resort to cooking the same things over and over again. It’s easy, but still, I want spring and summer and more fresh foods.

Had lovely 2009 Chardonnay with sumptious broasted pork loin chops. Chops broasted with warm apple chutney and dripping with sharp British seaside white cheddar. Some buttered spinach and my beuatiful (in so many ways!) wife by my side….Heaven with a fork and knife!
    Thanks for sharing…..

I will back to Wine and Love soon! I miss it so much!

I hear ya on the meal planning front. Have you considered altering the time frame for which you plan meals. If you normally plan meals and do shopping once a week, why not up it to twice a week. That way, you don’t have to think through seven meals at once. 3-4 meals feels much more manageable – and might take the pressure off and allow you to be creative in the kitchen once again.

Also, am I that behind that it’s almost time for Wine & Love v43 and I’m just commenting on v42?
