It’s Thursday which means time for the next installment of Wine & Love. I think you know the drill by now, but if not, share your weekly wines (or beer, liquor, soda- whatever your beverage preference is) and then your loves since last Thursday. Join in the comments or participate on your own blog (and if you do, link-up below please so that we can all read what’s on your list this week).
The Wine List:
* Being sick. It started on Sunday night after an awesomely whirlwindic (yes, I made up that word) weekend. I woke up Monday with a full-blown cold/sinus infection/virus. ( I say all three of those as the doctor wasn’t sure what it was. Reassuring, no?) Fortunately I’m finally starting to feel better today but man it’s been a bummer and a drag this week.
* Feeling helpless. There are some situations swirling around me in which I can do nothing but offer support, a shoulder to lean on, hugs and unconditional love. Sometimes it is really hard to not be able to do more for those I love, to make all the stupid issues disappear.
* Friends that live faraway mostly because I miss them immensely.
* As silly as it is/sounds, I’m going to miss not being in the STL for my birthday this year. I think it’s the first year in about 17 that I won’t be there. I am thrilled to spend it with Knight and the girls, I just wish we could all be in STL too.
* Thanks to the sickness exercise has had to stop a bit the last few days (doctor’s orders). I will get back on the horse again next week!
The Love List:
* A productive work week despite the sickness (that is a huge benefit of being able to work from home).
* Winning my fantasy football match this previous week. I squeaked by but I think I have a good handle on my players and how they will perform the next few weeks so hopefully I can continue the trend.
* Enjoying an amazing visit with Lisa last weekend. I owe the recap post + photos, but it will probably not make it up until next week. Bonus: Having Nilsa, Sweets, their adorable baby Gavin and their mellow dog SoMi come visit for a day as well. I love hosting and having people around!
* It’s taco soup season! Enough said.
* Finding a book by one of my favorite authors on sale at a local bookstore and subsequently falling in love with it.
* Checking out one too many books at the library as I know I won’t get to read all of them but I love finding new things to read and dreaming of endless days of reading, while drinking tea during this crisp fall.
* A relatively unscheduled weekend save for a lunch with Knight’s cousins and hopefully a trip to Trader Joe’s!

Taco soup? That sounds amazing! Recipe? (also feel better soon!)
I was just going to ask the same. For the benefit of us Brits out there, what is Taco soup?!
I’m glad you’re finally starting to feel better! Your weekend sounds amazing, even just the Trader Joe’s part!
Sooooo bummed that you got sick after the weekend. Guess the silver lining is that you didn’t get sick before the weekend. =) We had such a great time coming to see you. You best let the girls know that Gavin, Sweets and I want to know when is the next time we get to see them! =)
it;s sooooooo cold!!!!!!! my biggest wine!
Love that we finally found our house, not loving all the paperwork and money we have to dish out in order to make it officially ours!
Taco soup! Do you have a good recipe? I need to learn to make more soups this fall/winter.
I love that you play fantasty football – that’s a facet of your personality I was not aware of!
Wine: all the knee stuff. This is also kind of a love though because physical therapy while painful, is DEF. helping!
Love: Almost being 28!
Would love the recipe for taco soup! Sorry you are sick
Hope you start to feel better soon.
I love your last few. I recently checked out a few too many books at the library and then went to the thrift store and found a few (dozen) too many there that I loved. So now I have a plethora of reading to do! I am not unhappy about it, although I wish I had more time so I could just read all day!
Trader Joe’s is one of my happy places. Also, whirlwindic? Nice
Oh lame – sorry you’ve been sick
Yay for taco soup season! I want to try making a vegetarian version of your famous taco soup this winter
“Checking out one too many books at the library as I know I won’t get to read all of them but I love finding new things to read and dreaming of endless days of reading, while drinking tea during this crisp fall.” — I do this too! Ah, I think autumn was meant for reading and tea.
And soup. Speaking of which, I too need that recipe!
I’m glad you are at least getting a little better. Seems like everyone’s on the mend around here. Must be the season change.
I’m glad you’re feeling better! At least you’re building up your immune system now, so hopefully when everyone else is sick you have already fought it off!
I always check out too many books from the library. It’s really ridiculous. I have a hard time choosing what I want to read next so I like to have options.
Taco soup?! Tell me more!
i love taking too many books from the library. sometimes i feel ridiculous but most times not, haha. hope you’re feeling better and you have a fabulous weekend!
I’m sorry you were sick! But I’m glad you were able to still be productive since you’re working at home.
Being sick sucks and is definitely worthy of all the whine/wine necessary to get it to go away. Damn seasons changing and whatnot!
I’m glad fall is finally here, too. Summers are so hot in the south it’s nice to finally get some cooler weather. I participated in W&L for the first time today. I’m hoping to get to read some entries of others who linked up this weekend. Hope you have a great weekend!
that’s awesome you were still able to get stuff done while feeling crummy. i almost never get sick so it’s a pretty epic horror show when i do. absolutely nada gets done
Glad you’re feeling better!
YOU are on my “love” list!
(on my wine list: me, for spending so much time at/on work BUT I have already changed that as of this past week! phew.)
Oh and also on my wine list: cleaning and organizing – egads, it takes a long time, but it’s so nice to sort, organize, toss, recycle and actually be able to FIND things and get a place for everything and everything in its place!
more later…going to bake an apple pie now having just been out to Eckers Orchard yesterday!
I recently found your blog and I love this series of yours! Count me in for next time.
And I hope you got that trip to Trader Joe’s!
Hi Nora! I’m new to Wine & Love. I think this is a great idea. I called it Coke and Love on my website because I don’t really like wine but I’m addicted to Diet Coke. Lol! Hope you don’t mind. Great idea – can’t read to read more of these as the weeks progress.
